Neagari Tanabata Festival

Nomi, Ishikawa

Venue: Central Neagari District, Nomi

Jul 25 – Jul 26, 2026

Held in late July each year in the Neagari district of Nomi City, Ishikawa, this is one of the prefecture's largest Tanabata festivals. Its biggest draw is the enormous jumbo Tanabata decorations standing roughly 18 meters tall, three of which line up in a truly spectacular sight. Colorful streamers and wish strips flutter against the summer sky, captivating visitors. The venue features senryu displays of comic poems composed by locals, a lively music parade, and an evening dance contest at night, filling the whole town with energy. With many stalls and a wide range of generations from families to young people, it is one of Nomi's signature summer events. The 2026 dates are estimated from the previous year.
