The Tanabata matchmaking visit and an evening Tanabata concert
A community-rooted Tanabata festival held at Soja Wada Hachimangu in Wada, Fukui City. From afternoon into night, various events unfold in the shrine grounds: the Hato Marche handmade-goods square gathering crafts and kitchen cars, the Hoshiai Tanabata matchmaking visit praying for good relationships, and a Tanabata concert performed at dusk, all offering the romantic, warm atmosphere unique to a Tanabata evening. The old custom of writing wishes on strips and hanging them on bamboo is also cherished, drawing many visitors of all ages. It is a heartwarming event created by the local shrine together with parishioners and residents, coloring a moment of Fukui's summer.
