Tonami Tulip Park
Tonami, ToyamaChubu
Koinobori flying above 3 million tulips in full bloom
The Tonami Tulip Fair, held annually during Golden Week in Tonami, Toyama, is one of Japan's largest tulip events, featuring 300 varieties and 3 million tulips. Tonami produces more tulip bulbs than anywhere in Japan, and the park showcases the flowers in massive beds, ground art, floating displays, and the 'Hana no Otani' tulip canyon. During the fair, which coincides with Tango no Sekku, koinobori are raised above the tulip fields, creating a signature springtime sight of colorful streamers soaring above a sea of blooms. The event draws around 300,000 visitors, making it a family favorite. Accessible via the Jōhana Line from Shin-Takaoka Station on the Hokuriku Shinkansen.
