Hida Folk Village Tango no Sekku and Koinobori

Takayama, Gifu

Venue: Hida Folk Village (Hida no Sato)

Apr 1 – May 31, 2026 (est.)

Hida Folk Village (Hida no Sato) in Takayama, Gifu is an open-air museum of relocated and restored gassho-zukuri farmhouses from the Hida region. During Tango no Sekku, May dolls and warrior helmets are displayed inside the historic houses, while koinobori fly above the village pond. The combination of thatched-roof gassho-zukuri houses and koinobori creates a uniquely traditional scene found nowhere else, popular with photographers. Around 30 historic houses dot the grounds, offering insight into Hida craftsmanship and old rural life, with demonstrations of straw work and weaving. Easily accessible from Takayama Station. Dates are based on last year's schedule.
