Green Echo Kasagata (Kanzaki Ikoi no Mura)
Kamikawa, Kanzaki District, HyogoKansai
1,000 giant carp streamers suspended across a deep gorge
At Green Echo Kasagata, an outdoor recreation facility beneath Mt. Kasagata (939m, nicknamed 'Harima Fuji') in Kamikawa Town, Hyogo, this koinobori event has been held every year since 1984. More than 1,000 large and small carp streamers — many donated from across Japan — are hung on four steel cables stretched across the central gorge of the facility, gliding 30m overhead. With BBQ, campground, athletic courses and log cabins on-site, it is a Golden Week favorite where families can literally camp beneath the sea of streamers. The event is an annual feature of local news as a signature spring scene of Kamikawa.
