Held annually on May 3rd and 5th in Kasukabe City, Saitama, this traditional festival dates back to the Edo period. Over 100 people work together to fly Japan's largest kite—15 meters tall, 11 meters wide, and weighing about 800 kilograms—along the Edogawa River bank. The 2026 kites bear the characters for 'Gate of Laughter,' 'Spring Wind,' 'Fortune Comes,' and 'Great Sky.' The festival also features first Boys' Day celebration kite flying and creative kite competitions, attracting over 100,000 visitors annually.
