Katsushika Iris Festival

Katsushika, Tokyo

Venue: Horikiri Shobuen and Mizumoto Park

May 30 – Jun 14, 2026 (est.)

One of Tokyo's most celebrated iris festivals, held across two venues in Katsushika Ward. The main site, Horikiri Shobuen, is a historic iris garden dating back to the Edo period with about 200 varieties and 6,000 plants. The second venue, Mizumoto Park, boasts around 100 varieties and 14,000 plants—Tokyo's largest. Irises, associated with Tango no Sekku as protection against evil, have been loved by Tokyoites since the Edo era. The festival features traditional music performances, outdoor tea ceremonies, sketch contests, and plant sales. Easily accessible from central Tokyo via the Keisei Line. Dates are based on last year's schedule.
