Recognized as one of the three great Tanabata festivals of the Kanto region, the Mobara Tanabata Festival began in 1955 and reaches its 72nd edition in 2026. From July 24-26, the shopping streets around JR Mobara Station are filled with colorful bamboo decorations and streamers. The festival features the Mobara Awa-odori dance, a YOSAKOI Soran contest, dance parades and stage events, along with countless food stalls, drawing around 800,000 visitors as one of the largest festivals in the Kazusa area.
