Zojoji Temple grounds (Shiba Park)
Minato, TokyoKanto
Tokyo Tower with decorations and washi candle night
The Zojoji Temple Tanabata Festival is a Tanabata event held in the grounds of the head temple Zojoji in Shiba Park, Minato, set against Tokyo Tower. At the wish-writing station beside the main hall, visitors can write wishes on strips and tie them to bamboo from July 1-7 (9:00-20:00). On Tanabata day, July 7, a Tanabata ceremony is held in the plaza before the main hall to pray over people's wishes. On the evenings of July 6-7, a washi candle night bathes the grounds in warm light, creating a dreamlike scene of the illuminated Tokyo Tower, decorations and paper lanterns. Wish strips can be offered for 100 yen each.
