Tanabata decoration contest and te-odori dancing
The Warabi Hata Matsuri is the signature summer festival of Warabi, Saitama, a town that long flourished as a textile center, running August 7-9 in 2026 (74th edition); since 2025 it has been fixed to the first Friday-Sunday of August. Along the Warabi Station west-exit street and Sakurabashi-dori, gorgeous box decorations and bamboo ornaments are displayed, with a distinctive Tanabata decoration contest. Open te-odori dancing welcomes public participation, and two stages, Starlight Stage and Orihime Plaza, host music and dance. It is a summer tradition unique to Warabi, linking its textile heritage with Tanabata charm.
