Yoshino River Koinobori

Gojo, Nara

Venue: Yoshino Riverside (Mizube School to Kawaraji Park)

Mar 28 – May 8, 2026

Held every spring along the Yoshino River (Kino-kawa) in Gojo City, Nara, the 'Yoshino River Koinobori' is the centerpiece of the Yoshino River Revitalization Project. In 2026 the display runs about 40 days, from March 28 (Sat) to May 8 (Fri), with wires stretched over a 1km riverside between 'Mizube School' and Kawaraji Park and roughly 200 koinobori on 50 poles swimming above the water. The river surface, fresh greenery and Kongo mountain range in the background make a stunning composition, and the site is a known stop on the Osaka–Nara–Hyogo History Road Relay Walk. A signature spring scene of Gojo, featured in local news every year.
